Hadith 1685
Hafs bin Asim narrates from his father, from his grandfather Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the muezzin says «اللہ اکبر» «اللہ اکبر», then any one of you (i.e., the person hearing the adhan) should say «الله اكبر» «الله اکبر»; when he says «اشهد ان لا الله الا الله», then (the listener) should say «اشهد ان لا اله الا الله»; then when he says «اشهد ان محمد رسول اللہ», (the listener) should say «اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله»; then when he says «حی علی الصلوة», (the listener) should recite «لا حول ولا قوة الا باللہ»; then when he says «حی علی الفلاح», (the listener) should recite «لا حول ولا قوة الا باللہ»; then when he says «الله اکبر» «اللہ اکبر», (the listener) should say «اللہ اکبر» «اللہ اکبر»; then when he says «لا الله الا اللہ», the listener should say «لا الله الا اللہ»; so the person who responds to the adhan in this way will enter Paradise.
