Chapter on Adhan - Clarification that the iqamah is recited singly except for "Qad qamatis salah."
Hadith 1677
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ ، بِنَسَا ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ الأَذَانُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، وَالإِقَامَةُ وَاحِدَةٌ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ : قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلاةُ مَرَّتَيْنِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ هَذَا هُوَ إِمَامُ مَسْجِدِ الأَنْصَارِ بِالْكُوفَةِ ، اسْمُهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلَمْ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى وَأَبُو الْمُثَنَّى اسْمُهُ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: In the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the adhan consisted of two, two phrases, and the iqamah consisted of one phrase, however, «قد قامت الصلوۃ» was said twice. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Ja’far was the imam of the Ansar’s mosque in Kufa; his name is Muhammad bin Muslim bin Mihran bin Muthanna, while the narrator named Abu Muthanna’s name is Muslim bin Muthanna.
