Chapter on Adhan - Clarification that Anas’s statement "Bilal was ordered" refers to the Prophet’s command.
Hadith 1676
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَ بِلالا أَنْ يَشْفَعَ الأَذَانَ وَيُوتِرَ الإِقَامَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to say the words of the adhan in even numbers and the words of the iqamah in odd numbers.
