Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the call to prayer (adhan) is given, Satan turns his back and walks away. He passes wind as he goes. He goes so far away that he cannot hear the call to prayer. When the adhan is finished, Satan returns, and when the iqamah is pronounced, he turns away again. When the iqamah is finished, he comes back again and starts putting different thoughts into a person's heart. He says: Remember such-and-such, remember such-and-such. He reminds him of things that he did not remember before, to the extent that a person does not remember how much he has prayed."
