Chapter on Mosques - Permissibility of eating bread and meat in mosques.
Hadith 1657
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ جَزْءٍ ، يَقُولُ : " كُنَّا نَأْكُلُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْخُبْزَ وَاللَّحْمَ ، ثُمَّ نُصَلِّي وَلا نَتَوَضَّأُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to eat bread and meat in the mosque, and then we would perform the prayer. We would not perform ablution again.
