Chapter on Mosques - Clarification that spitting in the mosque is among the evil deeds of mankind on Judgment Day.
Hadith 1640
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، بِبُسْتَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ هِشَامًا ، عَنْ وَاصِلٍ ، مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ أُمَّتِي بِأَعْمَالِهَا حَسَنَةٍ وَسَيِّئَةٍ ، فَرَأَيْتُ فِي مَحَاسِنِ أَعْمَالِهِمُ الأَذَى يُمَاطُ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ ، وَرَأَيْتُ فِي مَسَاوِئِ أَعْمَالِهِمِ النُّخَاعَةَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ لا تُدْفَنُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "All the good and bad deeds of my Ummah were presented before me, so among their good deeds I saw this: that filth which is removed from the path, and among their bad deeds I saw this: that spittle is thrown in the mosque and it is not buried."
