Chapter on Mosques - Clarification that the Prophet did not intend to exclude other numbers by this specific number.
Hadith 1625
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالا : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ ، وَعُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عبد الله الأغر ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَغَرِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " صَلاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي هَذَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ أَلْفِ صَلاةٍ فِي غَيْرِهِ إِلا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "Offering one prayer in this mosque of mine is superior to offering one thousand prayers anywhere else, except for Al-Masjid Al-Haram, which is a different matter."
