Chapter on Mosques - Report indicating that every step towards the Prophet’s Mosque is rewarded.
Hadith 1622
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالا : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمْةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مِنْ حِينِ يَخْرُجُ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ مَنْزِلِهِ إِلَى مَسْجِدِي ، فَرِجْلٌ تَكْتُبُ لَهُ حَسَنَةً ، وَرِجْلٌ تَحُطُّ عَنْهُ سَيِّئَةً ، حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever leaves his house heading towards this mosque of mine, for every step he takes, a good deed is written for him, and with the next step, one of his sins is erased. (This continues) until he returns."
