2 hadith
Hadith 1620
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Offering one prayer in this mosque of mine is more virtuous than offering a thousand prayers anywhere else, except for Al-Masjid Al-Haram. In Al-Masjid Al-Haram, offering one prayer is more virtuous than offering one hundred prayers here." (The narrator says) This refers to the mosque of Madinah Munawwarah.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Performing one prayer in the mosque of Allah’s Messenger is more virtuous than performing one thousand prayers anywhere else, except for Masjid al-Haram. The reason for this is that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the last Prophet and his mosque is the last mosque (i.e., that will be attributed to any Prophet). The narrators named Abu Salamah and Abu Abdullah state: We have no doubt about this matter; Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to narrate this as a hadith of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but we refrained from narrating this hadith so that we could first confirm it from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). When Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, we would mention this narration among ourselves and reproach one another for not having discussed this narration with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), so that he could have attributed it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) if he had heard it from him. Once, while we were in this state, we were sitting with Abdullah bin Ibrahim. We mentioned this narration and also mentioned our shortcoming in not having obtained the final opinion of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding it. Abdullah bin Ibrahim said to us: I bear witness that I heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) stating that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I am the last Prophet and this is the last mosque (that will be attributed to any Prophet).” (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), “This is the last of the mosques,” means that it is the last of the mosques related to the Prophets, because this mosque in Madinah Munawwarah is, in this regard, the last mosque that was built in the world.
