Chapter on Combining Two Prayers - Report that might mislead some into thinking combining prayers at home without excuse is allowed.
Hadith 1596
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ جَمِيعًا ، وَالْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ جَمِيعًا ، فِي غَيْرِ خَوْفٍ وَلا سَفَرٍ " . قَالَ مَالِكٌ : أَرَى ذَلِكَ فِي مَطَرٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Zuhr and Asr prayers together. He performed the Maghrib and Isha prayers together, and this was without any fear and other than during travel. Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I think this must have been during the rainy season.
