Section on Prohibited Times - Description of what occupied the Prophet from the two rak’ahs after Dhuhr until he prayed them after Asr.
Hadith 1575
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِمَالٍ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ ، فَقَسَمَهُ حَتَّى صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَنْزِلَ عَائِشَةَ ، فَصَلَّى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ ، وَقَالَ : " شَغَلَنِي هَذَا الْمَالُ عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ ، فَلَمْ أُصَلِّهِمَا حَتَّى كَانَ الآنَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Some wealth was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) after the Zuhr prayer. He began to distribute it, until he performed the Asr prayer. Then he went to the house of Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and performed two rak'ahs after Asr. He said: This wealth did not allow me to perform the two rak'ahs after Zuhr. I was not able to perform them until this time.
