Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Safwan bin Mu'attal (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah! I want to ask you about something which you know and I am unaware of. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is that thing? He said: Is there any time during the day or night in which performing prayer is disliked? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes, when you have performed the morning prayer, then refrain from prayer until the sun rises from between the horns of Satan. Then you may perform prayer and it will be accepted until the sun is directly overhead like a spear above your head. When it is directly overhead like a spear, then refrain from prayer, for this is a time when Hell is kindled and its corners are joined together, until the sun declines. When it declines, then (the angels') attendance is present in the prayer and it is accepted, until when you have performed the Asr prayer, then refrain from prayer until the sun sets.
