Chapter on Prayer Times - The time to which the Prophet preferred to delay the night prayer.
Hadith 1538
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I did not fear hardship for my Ummah, I would have delayed the ‘Isha prayer until one third of the night had passed."
