باب مواقيت الصلاة - ذكر الإخبار عما يستحب للمرء تأخير صلاة العشاء إلى بعض الليل ما لم يشقق ذلك على المأمومين
Prayer times: Reporting that it is recommended to delay Isha into the night unless it burdens the congregation
Hadith 1531
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي ، لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ ، وَلأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "If I did not fear hardship for my Ummah, I would have ordered them to use the miswak with every ablution, and I would have delayed the Isha prayer until one third of the night (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or until half the night."
