Prayer times: The reason the Prophet prayed Fajr at dawn that one time
Hadith 1495
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الأُمَوِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمْةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَغَلَّسَ بِهَا ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْغَدَ فَأَسْفَرَ بِهَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنْ وَقْتِ صَلاةِ الْغَدَاةِ ؟ فِيمَا بَيْنَ صَلاتِي أَمْسِ وَالْيَوْمِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer. He performed it in darkness, then the next day he led us in prayer and performed it in light. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Where is the person who asked about the time of the morning prayer? (The time of this prayer is) between the two prayers which we performed yesterday and today.
