Hadith 1479
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، والحسن بن سفيان ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ بُنْدَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ فَارِسٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ الأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : " الصَّلاةُ فِي أَوَّلِ وَقْتِهَا " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : الصَّلاةُ فِي أَوَّلِ وَقْتِهَا تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which deed is the most virtuous?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To perform the prayer at its earliest time." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In narrating these words, 'to perform the prayer at its earliest time,' Uthman bin Umar is unique among the narrators.
