Relieving oneself: One of two exceptions to the general prohibition previously mentioned
Hadith 1418
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حِبَّانَ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ وَاسِعِ بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " رَقِيتُ فَوْقَ بَيْتِ حَفْصَةَ ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسًا عَلَى مَقْعَدَتِهِ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ ، مُسْتَدْبِرَ الشَّامِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once I climbed onto the roof of the house of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was present there. He was relieving himself in the toilet facing the Qiblah and with his back towards Shaam.
Hadith 1419
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا غَوْثُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ جَزْءٍ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ ، فَدَعَا بِطَسْتٍ ، وَقَالَ لِلْجَارِيَةِ : اسْتُرِينِي ، فَسَتَرَتْهُ ، فَبَالَ فِيهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْهَى أَنْ يَبُولَ أَحَدُكُمْ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ " .
Ghouth bin Sulaiman narrates from his father: We visited Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Harith Zubaidi on a Friday. He called for a basin and said to his maid, "Make a curtain for me." She made a curtain for him. He urinated in that basin and then stated: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say this: He forbade that anyone should urinate facing the Qiblah.
