Impurity and its purification: Permitting prayer in clothes soiled by semen, even if not washed
Hadith 1379
أَخْبَرَنَا شَبَابُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، بِوَاسِطَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، وَالأَسْوَدِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا نَزَلَ بِعَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، فَأَصْبَحَ يَغْسِلُ ثَوْبَهُ ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : " إِنَّمَا كَانَ يُجْزِيكَ إِنْ رَأَيْتَهُ أَنْ تَغْسِلَ مَكَانَهُ ، وَإِنْ لَمْ تَرَهُ نَضَحْتَ حَوْلَهُ ، لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي أَفْرُكُهُ مِنْ ثَوْبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرْكًا ، فِيصَلِّي فِيهِ " .
Alqamah and Aswad narrate: A person stayed as a guest with Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). In the morning, he washed his garment (i.e., bedding), so Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: It was also permissible for you that if you saw impurity, then you could wash only the spot, and if you did not see it, then you could sprinkle water around the area. I remember about myself that I used to scrape (semen) from the garment of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he would perform prayer in that garment.
