Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Umm Habibah bint Jahsh was the wife of Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Auf. She suffered from istihada (non-menstrual bleeding) for seven years. She asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about this issue, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: This is not menstruation, rather it is blood from another vein. You should perform ghusl and continue to offer prayers. Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: That woman used to perform ghusl for every prayer. She would sit in a stone tub, and so did her sister Sayyida Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), until the redness of the blood would overpower the water.
