Nazzal bin Sabrah narrates: I performed the Zuhr prayer behind Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), then he proceeded to the gathering which he used to hold in the open field. He sat there and we sat around him until the time for Asr prayer arrived. Then a vessel was brought in which there was water. He took a handful of water from it, rinsed his mouth and put water in his nose, wiped his face and both arms, wiped his head, and wiped both his feet. Then he stood up and drank the remaining water. Then he said this statement: I have been informed that some people dislike that one of them stands and drinks water, whereas I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing as I have done, and this is the ablution of a person who has not lost his previous ablution (i.e., whose previous ablution is still valid).
