Wiping over leather socks and similar: Stating the duration a resident may wipe over socks
Hadith 1330
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ بِبُسْتَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ ، عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفِينِ ، فَقَالَ : " ثَلاثًا لِلَمْسَافِرِ ، وَلِلَمْقِيمِ يَوْمًا " .
Sayyiduna Khuzaimah bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this about the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about wiping over the leather socks (khuffs), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: For the traveler, three days and three nights, and for the resident, one day is permitted for wiping.
