Wiping over leather socks and similar: Clarifying that prayer is allowed with wiped socks only if worn while pure
Hadith 1326
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفِيانُ ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا ، وَغَيْرِهِ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " تَوَضَّأَ ، فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ عَلَى خُفِيهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تَمْسَحُ عَلَى خُفِيكَ ؟ قَالَ : إِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُ رِجْلَيَّ وَهُمَا طَاهِرَتَانِ " .
Urwah bin Mughirah bin Shu'bah narrates from his father: I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) perform ablution. He washed his face and both arms, then wiped over his socks. I said: O Messenger of Allah, are you wiping over your socks? He replied: I put my feet into them while I was in a state of ablution.
