Hadith 1299
Sayyida Kabsha bint Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the wife of the son of Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her. She placed water for his ablution. A cat came and began to drink from it. Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) pushed the vessel towards it. The cat drank the water. Sayyida Kabsha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) looked at me. I was looking at him attentively, so he asked: O my niece! Are you surprised? I said: Yes. So he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It (i.e., the cat) is not impure. It is one of those animals that go about among you in your homes."
