Chapter on Skins of Dead Animals
Hadith 1277
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْخَطَّابِيُّ ، بِالْبَصْرَةِ بِخَبَرٍ غَرِيبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْكَرْمَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ تَغْلِبَ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِشَهْرٍ : " أَنْ لا تَنْتَفِعُوا مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ بِإِهَابٍ وَلا عَصَبٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ukeem (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote us this letter one month before his passing, in which it was written: "Do not benefit from the hide and tendons of a dead animal."
