Hadith 1266
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الِمَنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : " جَاءَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُنِي وَأَنَا مَرِيضٌ لا أَعْقِلُ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ ، وَصَبَّ مِنْ وَضُوئِهِ عَلَيَّ ، فَعَقَلْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لِمَنِ الْمِيرَاثُ ؟ فَإِنَّمَا يَرِثُنِي كَلالَةً ، فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْفَرَائِضِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : فِي صَبِّ الْمُصْطَفَى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وُضُوءَهُ عَلَى جَابِرٍ بَيَانٌ وَاضِحٌ بِأَنَّ الْمَاءَ الْمُتَوَضَّأُ بِهِ طَاهِرٌ لَيْسَ لَهُ أَنْ يَتَيَمَّمَ ، لأَنَّهُ وَاجِدُ الْمَاءَ الطَّاهِرَ وَإِنَّمَا أَبَاحَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ التَّيَمُّمَ عِنْدَ عَدَمِ الْمَاءِ وَكَيْفَ التَّيَمُّمُ لِوَاجِدِ الْمَاءِ الطَّاهِرِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to visit me when I was ill and I was unconscious at that time. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ablution and sprinkled the leftover water of his ablution on me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! (To whom) will my inheritance go, because my inheritance is in the form of kalalah (having no direct heirs)? Then the verse regarding the ruling of inheritance was revealed. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) act of sprinkling the leftover water of his ablution on Sayyiduna Jabir is a clear statement that the water with which ablution has been performed is pure, and whoever has access to this water is not permitted to perform tayammum, because he will be considered as one who has found pure water, and Allah Almighty has permitted tayammum only when water is not available, so how can a person who has found pure water perform tayammum?
