Chapter on Rules for the Junub – Recommendation for a person in a state of major impurity who wants to sleep to perform ablution for prayer before sleeping
Hadith 1218
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الدُّولابِيُّ ، مُنْذُ ثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمْةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ ، لَمْ يَنَمْ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ ، وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَأَكَلَ " .
Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) intended to sleep in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), he would not sleep until he performed ablution (wudu). And when he intended to eat something in the state of janabah, he would wash both his hands before eating.
