Hadith 1170
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: What is your opinion about this matter—if a person has intercourse with his wife but does not ejaculate? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should wash his private part and his testicles, perform ablution, and then offer prayer.
Hadith 1171
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day we were walking with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he passed by the house of an Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Where is so-and-so? The narrator says, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called for him, and that person quickly came out from inside, with water dripping from his head. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Perhaps we forced you to hurry because of your need. That person said: Yes, by Allah! O Messenger of Allah, I had to hurry. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If someone has to do something quickly or is short on time, then ghusl is not obligatory upon him. In that case, performing wudu is obligatory.
Hadith 1172
Zaid bin Khalid narrates: He asked Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) about a person who has intercourse but does not ejaculate. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied that such a person is not required to perform ghusl (ritual bath). Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself. The narrator states: Later, I asked Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib, Sayyiduna Zubair bin Al-Awwam, Sayyiduna Talha bin Ubaidullah, and Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with them), and they also gave a similar answer. The narrator named Abu Salamah states: Urwah bin Zubair informed me that he asked Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) about this matter, and he also narrated a similar statement from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
