Urwah bin Zubair narrates from the noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Sayyidah Umm Sulaym Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), who is the mother of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), may Allah have mercy on her. She said: O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, Allah does not shy away from the truth. Is it obligatory for a woman to perform ghusl in such a situation if she sees water during sleep, just as a man sees it? (This woman experiences a wet dream) So should she perform ghusl or not? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: She should perform ghusl. The noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him) narrates: I turned towards that woman and said: Woe to you! Does any woman also see such a dream? The noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him) narrates: Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned towards this noble wife. He said: May your hands be dusted, then (the resemblance of the child) is because of this.
