Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Clarification that the meat the Prophet (peace be upon him) ate without performing ablution was sheep meat, not camel meat
Hadith 1145
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى امْرَأَةً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَبَسَطَتْ لَهُ عِنْدَ صَوْرٍ ، وَرَشَّتْ حَوْلَهُ ، وَذَبَحَتْ شَاةً فَصَنَعَتْ لَهُ طَعَامًا ، فَأَكَلَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَكَلْنَا مَعَهُ ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ لِصَلاةِ الظُّهْرِ فَصَلَّى ، فَقَالَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَدْ فَضَلَتْ عِنْدَنَا مِنْ شَاتِنَا فَضْلَةٌ ، فَهَلْ لَكَ فِي الْعَشَاءِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، فَأَكَلَ وَأَكَلْنَا ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the house of an Ansari woman. She spread a bedding for you near a cluster of date-palm trees. She sprinkled water around it. She slaughtered a goat and prepared food for you. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it, and we also ate with you. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution for the Zuhr prayer and then offered the prayer. The woman said: O Messenger of Allah! Some food from the meat of this goat is left with us; would you like to eat it? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it, and we also ate it. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the Asr prayer, and he did not perform ablution again.
