Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Second report explicitly stating that the shoulder the Prophet (peace be upon him) ate without performing ablution was sheep shoulder, not camel shoulder
Hadith 1141
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَحْتَزُّ مِنْ كَتِفِ شَاةٍ فَيَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا ، فَدُعِيَ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ ، فَقَامَ فَطَرَحَ السِّكِّينَ ، فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " . قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : وَحَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
Ja'far bin Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri narrates from his father: I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) eat the meat from the upper part of a goat's shoulder, then he was called for prayer. He got up, put the knife aside, and performed the prayer without performing ablution again. Ibn Shabab narrates: Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated to me from his father, from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), a narration similar to this.
