Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: An Ansari woman invited us. She had slaughtered a goat and prepared food. She had sprinkled water under a cluster of date palms. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water for ablution, performed ablution, and offered prayer. Then we came to the remaining food, and he ate from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer again and did not perform ablution anew. (Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates:) Once I presented myself to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked for food, but nothing was found to eat. He inquired: Where is that goat of yours which has given birth? His wife replied: It is here. Then he called for it and milked it with his own hand. Then he prepared its laba (a specific type of food). Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) ate it, then he offered prayer and did not perform ablution anew. (Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates:) Once I ate dinner with Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Two bowls were presented before him. One bowl was placed before Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and the other before those present. (All ate the food.) Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) offered prayer and did not perform ablution anew. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Here, the word "as-suwar" used in the text of the narration refers to a cluster of date palm trees.
