Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Clarification that the meat the Prophet (peace be upon him) ate without performing ablution was sheep meat, not camel meat
Hadith 1138
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى امْرَأَةً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، قَالَ : فَبَسَطَتْ لَهُ عِنْدَ ظِلِّ صَوْرٍ ، وَرَشَّتْ بِالْمَاءِ حَوْلَهُ ، وَذَبَحَتْ شَاةً ، فَأَكَلَ وَأَكَلْنَا مَعَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ تَحْتَ الصَّوْرِ ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ ، فَقَالَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَضَلَتْ عِنْدَنَا فَضْلَةٌ مِنْ طَعَامٍ ، فَهَلْ لَكَ فِيهَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، فَأَكَلَ وَأَكَلْنَا مَعَهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the house of an Ansari woman. The narrator states: This woman spread a dining mat for you near the shade of a cluster of date palms and sprinkled water around it. She had slaughtered a goat, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate its meat. We also ate along with you. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a nap under the cluster of date palms. When he woke up, he performed ablution and offered the Zuhr prayer. The woman submitted: O Messenger of Allah! We have some food left; would you like to eat some more of it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. So you ate it. We also ate along with you. Then you offered prayer without performing ablution again.
