Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – Report that may mislead the unskilled in hadith science into thinking ablution after eating camel meat is not obligatory
Hadith 1131
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكَلَ مِنْ كَتِفٍ ، أَوْ قَالَ : تَعَرَّقَ مِنْ ضِلَعٍ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ate the meat of the animal's shoulder (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or ate the meat of the ribs, then he performed prayer and did not perform ablution again.
