Chapter on Nullifiers of Ablution – The command to perform ablution after eating camel meat, contrary to those who deny it
Hadith 1124
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنْ شِئْتَ فَتَوَضَّأْ ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَلا تَتَوَضَّأْ " . قَالَ : أَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الإِبِلِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " . قَالَ : أُصَلِّي فِي مَبَارِكِ الإِبِلِ ؟ قَالَ : " لا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Should we perform ablution after eating goat meat? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If you wish, then perform ablution, and if you wish, then do not perform ablution. The man asked: Should we perform ablution after eating camel meat? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Yes. He asked: May I pray in the enclosures of camels? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: No.
Hadith 1125
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الإِبِلِ ، وَلا نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah instructed us: Perform ablution after eating camel meat, and do not perform ablution after eating goat meat.
