Chapter on the Nullifiers of Ablution - Report indicating that vomiting breaks ablution, whether much or little
Hadith 1097
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَمْرٍو الأَوْزَاعِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ يَعِيشَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ مَعْدَانَ بْنَ طَلْحَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ حَدَّثَهُ : " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ " ، فَلَقِيتُ ثَوْبَانَ فِي مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ ، فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : صَدَقَ ، أَنَا صَبَبْتُ لَهُ وَضُوءًا .
Ma’dan bin Talhah reports: Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) informed him that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited and broke his fast. (The narrator says) Then I met Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) in the mosque of Damascus and mentioned this to him. He said: He (i.e., Sayyiduna Abu Darda’) has spoken the truth; I gave the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) water for ablution.
