Chapter on the Sunnahs of Ablution - Permissibility to limit ablution to once for each part if done thoroughly
Hadith 1095
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " أَنَا أَعْلَمُكُمْ بِوُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I have the most knowledge among you all about the ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ablution "once" (only).
