Ibn Hibban

Amr bin Yahya narrates from his father. He said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), who is the grandfather of Amr bin Yahya: Can you show how the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution? So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes. Then he called for water for ablution and poured water on his right hand three times. Then he washed his face three times. Then he washed both hands up to the elbows twice each. Then he wiped his head with both hands. He moved his hands from the front to the back and then from the back to the front. He started from the front part of the head, then took his hands to the back of the neck, then brought them back to the place from where he had started. Then he washed both his feet and stated: I have seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution in this manner.
