Nazzal bin Sabrah narrates: I performed the Zuhr prayer behind Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he went to the place where he used to sit in the open field. He sat down, and we sat around him. Then when the time for Asr prayer came, a vessel was brought in which there was water. He took a handful from it, rinsed his mouth and cleaned his nose with it, wiped his face and both arms, wiped his head, and wiped both feet. Then he stood up and drank the remaining water from that vessel. Then he said this: It has been conveyed to me that people dislike drinking water while standing, whereas I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) doing as I have done. This is the ablution of a person who is already in a state of ablution.
