Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and we ourselves were our own servants. We used to take care of our camels ourselves. I was also grazing some camels. I brought them back in the evening and met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was delivering a sermon to the people. I heard him say: "Whoever performs ablution and does it well, then stands and offers two units of prayer, during which he focuses with his mind and face, then Paradise becomes obligatory for him." Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said, "How excellent this is!" Then a man said, "What was mentioned before this is even more excellent." I looked and saw that it was Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). I asked, "O Abu Hafs! What was that?" He replied, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said before you came: 'Whoever performs ablution and does it well, and after completing the ablution recites: I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, and indeed Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger,' then all eight gates of Paradise are opened for him, and he may enter through whichever he wishes." Muawiyah bin Salih says: Rabee’ah bin Yazid narrated this hadith to me from Abu Idris, from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him). (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) (Regarding the narrator named Abu Uthman, it is possible that he is Hariz bin Uthman Rahbi. Our reliance is on the second chain; the narrator named Hariz bin Uthman has no standing in the science of hadith.)
