Chapter on the Virtue of Ablution - Clarification that the extent of ablution marks on Judgment Day matches one’s ablution in this world
Hadith 1049
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلالٍ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ حَتَّى كَادَ يَبْلُغَ الْمَنْكِبَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ حَتَّى رَفَعَ إِلَى السَّاقَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ أُمَّتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ غُرٌّ مُحَجَّلُونَ مِنْ أَثَرِ الْوُضُوءِ " . فَمَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يُطِيلَ غُرَّتَهُ فَلْيَفْعَلْ .
Nuaim bin Abdullah reports: He saw Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) performing ablution. During ablution, he washed his face and washed his arms up to the shoulders. Then he washed both feet and washed them up to the shins, then he narrated this statement: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, the individuals of my Ummah will have radiant foreheads due to the marks of ablution." Whoever among you can increase his radiance should do so."
