Hadith 1036
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man was bitten by a poisonous creature. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you had recited these words in the evening: "(I seek refuge in Allah’s perfect words from the evil of what He has created)," then that thing would not have harmed you. The narrator says: Whenever any of us was bitten by a poisonous creature, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) would instruct him to recite these words. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), "Nothing will harm you," means that if you recite what we have recited, then the pain of the sting will not harm you. It does not mean that the supplication recited by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) will override Allah’s decree regarding that person.
