Chapter of Seeking Refuge - Recommendation to seek refuge in Allah from being held to account for one’s sins in the Hereafter and falling into them in this world
Hadith 1031
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ هِلالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ ، عَنْ فَرْوَةَ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ الأَشْجَعِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ عَمَّا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُو ؟ قَالَتْ : كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا عَمِلْتُ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا لَمْ أَعْمَلْ " .
Furwah bin Nawfal Ashja'i narrates: I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) about the supplication that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to make, so she said: He (peace be upon him) used to say (that is, he used to make this supplication): "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done and from the evil of what I have not done."
