Chapter of Seeking Refuge - Clarification that saying this three times in the evening protects from snake bites, not just once
Hadith 1022
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يُمْسِي : أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ، ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، لَمْ تَضُرَّهُ حَيَّةٌ إِلَى الصَّبَاحِ " . قَالَ : وَكَانَ إِذَا لُدِغَ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ ، قَالَ : أَمَا قَالَ الْكَلِمَاتِ ؟ ! .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: Whoever recites these words in the evening: "(I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of whatever He has created)," and recites them three times, then no snake (or poisonous thing) will harm him until morning. (The narrator states) Whenever any of his household was bitten (by any poisonous thing), they would say: Had he not recited those words?
