Chapter of Seeking Refuge - Seeking protection from being bitten by harmful creatures
Hadith 1020
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، وَالْحَارِثَ بْنَ يَعْقُوبَ حَدَّثَاهُ ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا لَقِيتُ مِنْ عَقْرَبٍ لَدَغَتْنِي الْبَارِحَةَ ! ! فَقَالَ : " أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ قُلْتَ حِينَ أَمْسَيْتَ : أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ، لَمْ يَضُرَّكَ " .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah! Last night a scorpion stung me in my bed. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If you had recited these words in the evening: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of whatever He has created,” then it (the scorpion) would not have harmed you.
