Chapter of Seeking Refuge - Recommendation to seek refuge in Allah from useless prayer and insatiable soul
Hadith 1015
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، بِعَسْكَرِ مُكْرَمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُرَيْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ نَفْسٍ لا تَشْبَعُ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ صَلاةٍ لا تَنْفَعُ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ دُعَاءٍ لا يُسْمَعُ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ قَلْبٍ لا يَخْشَعُ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: (that is, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this supplication) "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from a soul that is never satisfied, and I seek refuge in You from a prayer that is of no benefit, and I seek refuge in You from a supplication that is not heard, and I seek refuge in You from a heart that has no humility."
