Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, there is an effect of Satan and there is an effect of the angel. The effect of Satan is that he leads back towards evil and denies the truth, and the effect of the angel is that he leads back towards goodness and affirms the truth. So whoever finds this situation, let him praise Allah Almighty, and whoever finds the other situation, let him seek refuge from Satan." Then he recited this verse: "Satan promises you poverty."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate: "O Allah! I ask You for guidance and steadfastness." (These are the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him), or perhaps Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says:) "Keep in mind the guidance of the road along with guidance, and keep in mind the straightness of the arrow along with steadfastness." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade me from using Qassi and Maythara, and from wearing a ring on the index finger and the middle finger.
