Chapter of Supplications - Recommendation to supplicate for the guidance of Allah’s enemies to Islam
Hadith 979
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ الطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدَّوْسِيُّ إِلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ دَوْسًا قَدْ عَصَتْ وَأَبَتْ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ دَوْسًا ، وَائْتِ بِهِمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Tufail bin Amr Dausi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah! The people of the Daus tribe are being disobedient and are not accepting (the call to Islam). Please supplicate to Allah against them. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed: "O Allah! Guide the Daus tribe and bring them into the fold of Islam."
