Chapter of Supplications - Prohibition of hastening the response to supplication
Hadith 975
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ ، مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَزْهَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يُسْتَجَابُ لأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعَجَلْ ، فَيَقُولُ : قَدْ دَعَوْتُ فَلَمْ يُسْتَجَبْ لِي " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "The supplication of every one of you is accepted, as long as he does not show haste by saying: 'I prayed, but it was not accepted.'"
