Chapter of Supplications - Recommendation to ask Allah for pardon and well-being in the morning
Hadith 961
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا فَيَّاضُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْفَزَارِيِّ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَعُ هَؤُلاءِ الدَّعَوَاتِ حِينَ يُمْسِي وَحِينَ يُصْبِحُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ . اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي ، وَدُنْيَايَ ، وَأَهْلِي ، وَمَالِي . اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي ، وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي ، اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي ، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي ، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي ، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي " قَالَ وَكِيعٌ : يَعْنِي : الْخَسْفَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) never neglected to recite these words in the morning and evening: "O Allah! I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah! I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah! Conceal my faults and grant me security from my fears. O Allah! Protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being deceived from beneath me." The narrator named Waki’ says: This means being swallowed up by the earth.
