Chapter of Supplications - What is required of asking Allah for steadfastness and uprightness in what brings one closer to Him
Hadith 942
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ ، بِالْبَصْرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قُلْ لِي قَوْلا لا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ أَحَدًا بَعْدَكَ ، قَالَ : " قُلْ : آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ " .
Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Abdullah Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Tell me something such that after you, I will not need to ask anyone else about it." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say, 'I believe in Allah,' and then remain steadfast upon it."
